The residents of Cooper Mountain in the Aloha area of Beaverton were most likely hopeful about the prospect of a new park in their proximity when Paul and Verna Winkelman donated their farm to the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District in 1998. With With Phase One of the park complete in June 2013, the nearby neighborhoods, housing two former Street of Dreams projects, must be thrilled with the outcome.
Currently, the park features a two-acre fully fenced dog park featuring a winter paddock with wood chips, a small paddock for pint-sized and/or timid dogs, a large grassy sloping field with an agility course and plenty of room to run off leash! Also available are doggie drinking fountains and a paw washing station.
There is also a natural turf youth athletic field for soccer, lacrosse, football, softball and baseball which opened for use in the Fall of 2013.
A future phase is set include a picnic shelter, community gardens and a trail connecting to nearby Cooper Mountain Nature Park.
With a rural feeling but a convenient location just minutes from the Bull Mountain, Murray Hill and Barrows Road areas, this park is an amazing asset to the community.
The nearly 20-acre park is located at 10139 SW 175th Avenue, Beaverton.
